The Very Beginning (Our Story)
The dream of opening our own shop had been one we both harboured for many years. With Tim a professional jeweller and Anna a bridal wear designer, we had always talked about running our own business and combining our passion for contemporary design and style in one beautiful shop. It wasn’t until 2005 that this dream became a reality…
A silversmith with almost thirty years’ experience, Tim trained at the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design, going on to then design and make his own jewellery. Anna meanwhile, undertook a degree at the London College of Fashion before setting up her own business designing bespoke bridal wear.
We met many (we won’t tell you quite how many!) years ago, but it wasn’t until our two daughters were small that we really began to breathe life into the idea of our own retail shop. We realised that there was a gap in the market for unique contemporary silver jewellery that couldn’t be found elsewhere on the high street, and decided to set up our own showroom, showcasing the finest handmade jewellery from hand-picked the finest UK designers. Taking the plunge, we found the perfect premises in our home town of Fleet, Hampshire, and in 2005 we opened the doors of Equinox Silver for the very first time.
Our Story
For the next seven years we enjoyed wonderful happiness running Equinox Silver. Together we unearthed exquisite handmade silver jewellery of the highest quality, and discovered unbelievably talented new designers. We simply loved getting to know our customers, from last minute husbands dashing in on Christmas Eve, to our Saturday morning regulars, popping in for a browse. We delighted in helping them fall in love with their perfect piece of jewellery, or seeking out the gift they’d been searching for.
And there was the great honour in 2010 of being nominated as one of Retail Jeweller magazine’s ‘Most Inspirational Jewellers’ in the UK and Ireland. We were absolutely thrilled, and so proud of the recognition.
A New Beginning
Whilst we loved our time running Equinox Silver, we increasingly found that more of our customers were finding us online. As we neared the end of our lease, it was with a heavy heart that we made the decision to shut the doors of our lovely shop in 2012. Since then, we’ve been able to dedicate ourselves to Equinox’s new online home – and have now had the pleasure of helping people across the world discover our unique silver jewellery, handmade by us or carefully selected from small independent workshops.*
We’re also very proud of our Silvertips collection – a range of handcrafted fingerprint jewellery, made to capture precious moments forever in silver. Be it footprint or paw print, cufflink or pendant, we can create a bespoke piece for you to keep someone close to your heart at all times.
